Go for the jam. I went to one a few months ago called "Digidesign - Sample & Groove Tour" which I was really excited about. Half-hour into the presentation, DaBasstard and I realised that all they're doing is showing us what's available for the Mac. Sure, I learned a couple of cool things but all the excitement was based around third party development for Mac's PT LE. Had we never asked in the middle of the event, no one from Digi would have mentioned it, they just kept talking with the assumption that only Mac users were present and gave a ****. In other words, it was a 'could've been great' type of event. My thoughts are that if you plan on uprgading to the new HD system in the near future, go, watch, and learn (and get really excited). If you had nothing else planned for the evening, again, go and you may pick up a few PT tricks here and there, perhaps meet some interesting people, make good contacts. If a cool jam is to be postponed in favor of being surrounded by TDM pros in a dream factory, I'd stay home and jam. You can always read about the new HD systems and their features in magazines... just my two senses, pk
