RICA 2.0D Rolling Road Results

Had the car at Awesome GTI today with the guys from SEATCupra.net for a RR day. It's obvious when you drive the car that the map has made a big difference but it's always interesting to see just how much of a difference. It made 146bhp at Awesome last November when standard. Due to the strut brace preventing the battery cover from being removed, they couldn't get a rev pickup so I didn't get a torque figure at the time. With the RICA map (and after a couple of minutes with a 13mm socket to remove the strut brace), it made 167bhp and 287lbft today - slightly down on the quoted figures but nothing to get upset about. Can't wait to try a manual D5 when they come out...

Great results and it sounds like you are really enjoying the car, which is more important than figures. Don't forget that rolling roads do vary and not knowing how old that rolling road is, you may find on another you are making the power. Roger

Not disappointed with the car at all and, as you say, all rolling roads are different. Had a serious case of diesel envy over one of the other cars, though : Audi A3 2.0TDI S-Line (with a hybrid turbo, propane injection and nitrous) made in the region of 320bhp and a rather scary 440lbft... The owner had a set of RS4 front calipers ready to fit to improve things on the slowing-down front. Apparently, the only other issue is the slight tendency for the cylinder head to lift under power...
