ME: "Select note"?

MessageAuthor

Hi- alpha 61b Sorry if this has been asked, but what exactly is this supposed to do? I see that I can raise/lower the note velocity if I drag up/down on it with Alt (the default MIDI note mouse modifier for this action) pressed, but the note itself doesn't get selected or highlighted: I then assigned Shift+Alt to "Select note" for the heck of it, and I get this instead: What exactly is "Select note" supposed to do, and shouldn't both modifiers do the same thing if they're assigned to the same action? I'm sure I should, but I don't recognize that Shift+Alt cursor, either. Thanks- -Susan

That cursor is actually used for "arpeggiate".

RE: ME: "Select note"?

Ah, okay. "Select note" using Alt as the modifier in the "MIDI note" context is performing the "left drag" action since I'm... dragging it;). It doesn't do anything with "left click" alone. So "Select note" -- I still don't know what that's intended to do. I'm not sure I'd ever use it anyway since there are multiple other ways to select a note, but I'm curious.:) Thanks- -Susan Edit: I'm thinking maybe it's to "Select note without moving the edit cursor", since move and move ignoring snap are both covered? At any rate, it doesn't do anything here.

RE: ME: "Select note"?

Does "Select note" do anything for anyone else, or does anyone know for sure what it's supposed to do (my guess, as above, is that it's to select a note without moving the cursor), or should I just forget about it?:D Thanks- -Susan

Hi hopi- Yes, I realized I was seeing the arpeggiate cursor thanks to ED.:) I think you're right that this is a buglet, since Alt + right click selects the note without moving the cursor here too, but Alt + left click does nothing, even though that's the default assigned action. Thanks for confirming! -Susan
